Anyone know where to find a wool tshirt that fits like a regular tshirt? I know it would defeat the purpose to a point but at the same time, I'm not in the greatest shape and having my beer belly accentuated in a tight wool shirt would be.. Well you get the idea heh

I'm a small, but have more pudge than I would like, not a lot, but enough to show if I'm wearing tight clothes but because I'm shorter, I'm usually swimming in mediums..

But when I'm on the trail, it doesn't really bother me. I have shirts from Ibex, Smartwool, and icebreaker (body fit… So size medium is more like a small).

I figure, when I'm on the trail, other people are there to enjoy nature, and not my efficient, but unflattering, base layers.

It kind of sucks being a mesomorph body type, because I work out and gain muscle mass fairly quickly, but it's rely hard for me to melt away the fat, despite being an active runner (including half marathons, and a full marathon coming up next year).

Did you want the shirts for everyday wear or trail?

I find that UK sizes fit wonderfully if I size up.

Icebreaker SuperFine Tech Lite T-Shirt

Currently out of stock at Backcountry but that is where I purchased mine. This fits more like a regular t-shirt. Kind of expensive in my opinion but it feels great.

I ordered an icebreaker and Patagonia merino wool shirt and found that they're pretty tight. I then ordered a Minus 33 and found that it runs true to size.

It would be for the trail- with a backpack on- which sits under my belly anyhow lol. Now I'm not fat by any means (6' 200# usually wear a large, sometimes medium fits and sometimes xl) but I'd still like a shirt that fits like a tshirt instead of a base layer.
And I'll check out the minus 33

+1 on Minus 33.

additionally, they are the only ones making a Zip-T in a short sleeve with a proper collar.

Steve,

The Ibex U-Sixty is loose fitting for a large upper torso (beer belly).

Smartwool's lightweight (not microweight) stuff always hangs loose on me. Ibex hugs everything.

You can see me in Ibex here:

Ibex

And smartwool here:

Smart

The fabric weights are almost the same, but Smartwool is nice and loose in the chest, sleeves, belly… Ibex is like a second skin and I can't roll up the cuffs.

I don't have a beer belly yet, but I'm eating enough that I should be "on the path."

I think I'll just start doing sit-ups every day (started this morning actually) instead of trying to find a shirt to fit my physique. And once hiking season starts, I'll hike my ass off – or belly rather. By the time it's warn enough for just a wool tshirt, I'll be good to go.

I think the Ibex 17.5 t-shirt has a very loose fit. I have one and it is the loosest wool t that I have compared to smartwool and icebreaker. I think they even advertise it as a "relaxed" fit.
Cheers..

Actually I did see that. But at $100+ It's just a little too expensive. Well, a lot too expensive. Thanks for the heads up tho

Smartwool seemed true to size for me, and fit like a T-shirt.

I also have a Stoic shirt, but I sized-up with that, and it is a bit "athletic" still.
