Loved this.
Especially the picture of Adan. Badass!
Great report and pictures Craig. It serves to remind me that even a quick overnighter can be a enjoyable experience.
I take a huge amount of pleasure from quick overnights. I'm in love with my local canyons and mountains and there are hundreds of spots I've seen throughout the years that would make a great place to sleep. In a sense, I think of it as collecting. The San Gabriel Mountains may not be the Sierra, contain sweeping vistas and 500 foot waterfalls, but they have their own lazy charm and they're there, ripe for the picking. It's just too easy. Go alone, take a kid, take a friend, leave at 6PM and hike in the dark and be home by 11AM the next day. I was on a streak for a period of time in which I was overnighting somewhere local nearly every weekend. I'm trying to get back into it. Fortunately, my wife never minds having a night to herself and sleeping under the stars is one of many things that always make me feel like I did something real with my weekend.
Too cool for words. You guys really have a knack for maxing out enjoyment of the time available.
Thanks Craig. I especially like that the text, like the trip, was minimal, but meaningful. Good on ya.
