Montbell Down Inner Prices

I have the long-sleeve version and am 6'2" and 185 lbs., with a long torso. The jacket fits fine, including sleeve length.

Search google/products for the cheapest prices, I found the short arm jacket for $71US, but not your size.
I'm 5`10", 170lbs and wear the large in thermawrap and Alpine down. I really think you should go with XL.

There is no way a Montbell down inner is as warm as a Skaha or Skaha Plus. You probably are aware of that but I thought I would point it out in case you aren't. However for warmer summer temps that aren't pushing the limit of an arc AT you might be fine with just the down inner.

Edit: You probably want to err on the big size too so that you have enough length for the overlap with the AT depending on if you are tucking the quilt under or over.

Thanks for the info Christopher. I'm using my AT for summer temps only "for now" – most likely go with the Montbell half sleeve. I want the Skaha, but I think I'll sweat bullets if it gets a little warm. I was thinking of going with a Down Inner half sleeve, and pair it up with a set or arm warmers if I get a chill. Seems to be a really modular setup…at least to me it does. And my arms can fit into the AT if I really need to cover up…i think. I've never actually slept in the AT (I don't have it yet) so if someone else has suggestions, please let me know. I'm just doing a trial and error thing here, which can get expensive.

Christopher, I replied to your post, but it didn't come up…so I'll summerize. The AT is for my hot summer trips only (maybe 8-10C absolute lowest)- for now. I figured the Skaha would be too hot and even questioned the Montbell Inner, hence the Half Sleeve thoughts. I figured I'd pair it up with a pair of arm warmers if I got a chill…or put my arms inside the AT? I've never slept in it bc I don't have it yet, so I'm just putting together a kit for it. Any suggestions from experienced users are very appreciated, so please fill me!

I'd say keep you eye on eBay right now. I just sold my down inner through the bay, and only got $60 for it. I thought I would get more than that. Most people don't want to think about down insulation in this heat. Although, when I sold mine, it was the only one on ebay, so there might not be any for awhile.

At those temperatures you're probably fine with just a montbell jacket and an AT as long as you can fit you arms in or have a bivy too. I got my AT 60" long (split between reg and long) at 5'11" and I'm very glad I did. The extra few inches makes all the difference since my big feet (12/46) suck up a few inches of quilt as well. Now if only my Skaha Plus would show up so I can test it some more. I've used it already but only with a loaner Skaha Plus.

I ended up going with the long At (I'm 6'3") and at the stated 64" length, it should come up my torso a considerable length, even if a few inches are taken up my my feet.

FWIW all my cycling arm warmers (arm gaitors) weigh 2-3oz. Don't know if that affects your decision.

Thanks Christopher. I figured that they would weigh about that. They looked pretty warm when I saw them yesterday. That being said, I would prefer the ones that weigh 2 oz, over the ones that weigh 3 oz…and yes, I have a problem.

Descente Coldout Arm warmers – size large – 2.5 oz. Tried them last night, they are really warm.

Looks like I'm going with the Montbell Half Sleeve version. Thanks for all the help guys.
