Caldera Cone for BMW FireLites

I hope the BPL stocks these. I managed to acquire the prototype of this model a few weeks ago; and I gotta say it rocks!

Excellent fit (mine is the Firelite with the handle) and excellent performance. I haven't had it on the trail yet (family emergencies and very hot/humid weather); but I hope to start using it exclusively after things cool down.

A neat trick for storing this size Caldera involves the use of a QuickTrip 32oz frozen drink cup. Trim the cup down to the height of the Caldera and it makes a sturdy, lightweight storage container that fits inside the Firelite cookpot:

As for multiple use, of course you have a drinking cup, as well as a measuring cup (the 1/4 mark on the QuikTrip cup equals 1 cup).

I recently used a prototype of the 3 cup stove system. The cone was cleverly stored in a screw-top ziplock container which nests upside-down in the pot. Very clever use of off-the-shelf technology similar to David's idea which I will adopt for my cones.
But why should BPL stock these when you can buy them directly from AGG?

In one day I received the FireLite SUL-500 mug and the matching Caldera Cone and its "kitchen" set. I just did some backyard testing; 75° in the shade, 12% humidity, 100' above sea level, and 5mph breeze with 14mph gusts.

With the Caldera Cone and its included stove, these conditions yielded a rolling boil after 5 minutes with 25ml of alcohol (10ml more than the manufacturer's claims). The boil lasted a solid two minutes before the fuel ran out. Similar tests with a DIY SuperCat stove yielded a rolling boil in 6 minutes on 40ml of fuel (requiring a refill)…and a SuperCat stove inside the Caldera Cone (pot sitting on the stove, not held up by the cone) created a rolling boil in 4 minutes on 30 ml of fuel, faster than the supplied 12-10 stove, but there wasn't enough capacity in a typical SuperCat to sustain the boil more than a few seconds.

All Caldera Cones are made to fit a specific pot; the fit on the SUL-500 is incredibly tight, so much so that you always have to expect to pick up the cone with the pot itself (I am using my multitool, a Leatherman Squirt P4, as a pot holder/lifter). The instructions infer that this fit will loosen over time. This isn't a huge inconvenience and all the components were cool to the touch within 120 seconds.

The fit of all the components (hint: put the stove upside down and over the lid of the fuel bottle) was quite fortiutous…

I'm a Jetboiler/FBC eater who's making the switch to alcohol…these results have me convinced! (Don't get me started on the lighting and piezo failures of the Jetboil!)
