I've had my share of Mora knives and I've wanted one of the Light My Fire Swedish Fire knives. I found a deal on one and it arrived today. I like it.
The blade is not as thick as some of the newer models, but it fills the food prep, general repairs and tinder whittling niches just fine. It has the typical Mora Scandi grind razor sharp stainless steel blade that is 3-5/8" long and 0.078" thick. This one has a secondary bevel 1-3/4" long at the tip. I assume it improves fine cutting qualities when dealing with an apple or a freshly caught trout. The sheath is molded plastic with a belt clip and a drain hole, shaped like the Craftsman line knife sheaths. I got the bright orange version for good visibility; it is right hand only and I would love to see a lefty or ambidextrous version. I plan to play with some Kydex this winter, so making a sheath for this one is on my to-do list. Weight is 4oz total or 3oz without the sheath. Overall length is 8-3/4".
Of course the trick deal on this knife is the fire steel integrated into the butt of the handle. It locks in with a twist and has a 7" lanyard so it should be easy to keep track of the thing. The firesteel is 1/4" diameter x 1.5" long and I assume it is like the Scout model firesteel. The nob and lanyard give it good ergonomics. The top edge of the blade has a clean right angle and should produce a good shower of sparks.
Retail prices have hovered around $35 since the knife was introduced. I'm seeing eBay prices more in the $25 range including shipping and I see that Sierra Trading Post currently has gray ones at $17 if you subscribe to their email coupons. That's a whole lotta knife for $17 :)
