I have just received my 2006 Brunton Crux (made in Japan for Optimus), which I bought on sale from REI. Love the stove, but it gets quite hot. I am using it without a windscreen. The tube that screws to the canister remains too hot to touch for ages after turning off the stove. Do I have a faulty stove, or is the behaviour normal???

It has been a little while since I used my Crux, but I do not recall waiting too long for it to cool. Mine would be a 2005 model. They are a great stove and mine will be out again in the coming weeks.

I suppose my question would be is the canister getting hot? If so then it is definitely faulty.

Roger, the canister does not get hot. I was concerned that this may happen, or that the O-ring may be adversely affected. I am just being cautious. I do notice that the 2007 Crux (only branded as Optimus and not to be sold by Brunton) has a black burner and slightly different pot supports. I wonder if it (2007 model) is just coloured black or is from different material (mine is stainless steel)?
I guess as long as the canister does not get hot it should be OK…
BTW, I alsi have a JetBoil and the Kovea Camp-3 titanium stove (also sold as Markill Hotshot).
