Tree tent hammock tent hybrid

Did you have a point to make with these? They're cool but there's just no way they are ultralight… or even light or anything but super heavy.

They're neat, but probably weigh more than 20 lbs each. I can imagine a version made with Amsteel and ripstop nylon that might weigh 5-7 lbs, but I don't see much appeal beyond novelty. I don't need to fit three people in a hammock. Three traditional hammocks works fine.

That said, I have always thought that hanging tents are a cool idea, if not really practical. This one is clever, and a modified version could be weatherproof and well ventilated:

Like all portaledge-type shelters, the frame (hoop) is probably very heavy.
