That's an awesome deal with the 20% off, Doug. I just wish they made it in a solid XXL.

They also have the non-hoody in more sizes and colors.

I went right to the rei website–there still are mediums in the hoodless anorak, but it's half-zip.

I just received the hoodie. I usually take a medium but they only had size large in a hoodie; as it turns out, it fits perfectly. (I'm 5'9 140 lbs.) I'm really impressed with this jacket. I'll probably never use the side zippers, so they add a bit of weight that I don't need, but overall this jacket is light and really, really warm! The hood is brilliant, worth getting if possible imo. BPL gives this a recommend.

non hoodie is 148.73. REI members use coupon code FALLMEM13 thru tomorrow for another 20% ($30) off.
The BPL review says this puffy thing runs a little small–order next size up is my take home lesson there. I'm in on this one. Sizes from s through XL. Yes, I can keep my down dry.
The hoodie is $157.73 and only avail in L & XL, blue or red.

I plan to cut off the side zippers and sew those seams together.
Cheers!

I bought the hooded Alpini during the sale and took it up into the Sierras on Saturday for an overnight. The weather report was for sunny skies with minimal wind. By the afternoon the wind was howling, and when I woke up the snow started dumping. I used the hooded Alpini while fishing and thought it was fantastic in cold/windy weather. The hood is super warm, comfortable, and has a volume adjuster. When hiking between spots on the lake, I found myself using the side zippers routinely for venting to avoid overheating. Yes the side zippers weigh a bit (and could be smaller), but I found them critical if you plan on doing anything other than just sitting in camp. Also, the large fit me well at 5' 10" and 180 lbs;, but if I was any bigger I would probably want to size up to the XL.
