My Cocoon order arrived!

I'll be ordering a hoody most likely if they have any left over. You said you have a medium? What's your height/weight if you don't mind me asking. Do you normally wear med?

My hoody and pants arrived, too. Wonderful quality and luxurious materials.

As for sizing:
I ordered a medium. I'm 5'11" (short torso, long arms, long legs) and 145lbs. Both items fit me well. I usually wear a medium (depending on sleeve length).

Cocoon Pullover size Large works well for my 6'2" longer torso and armed body. A drop tail would make it better—I have some "exposure" bending over or reaching way over my head—but all in all acceptable. Sleeve length is great. Room for layering for a slim to medium build.

I'm 5' 9 1/2" tall w/ a longish torso. I usually wear a medium. I weigh about 145 lbs.

I'm 150 and 5'9" and the M pullover fits me ideally, with good range of motion. There's room to add a possumdown vest with a base layer and windshirt. This is based on my older 2003/4 (?) pullover, but I believe the fit has not been changed. My hoody and pants are still on the way.

I got my hoody today.

Summary: overall, initial impression is that I spent a million dollars on a well constructed, minimalist design, jacket that remains exceptionally functional despite its lack of frills and is exceedingly light and compressible/packable. I feel I got what I wanted and what I paid for.

GOOD
-spot on to small fit, if between sizes go for the bigger size
-aesthetically pleasing
-seems as lofty as competitors but at lower weight
-has a hood
-sleeves and bottom stay in place without being too tight

BAD
-might benefit from a drop tail
-no handwarmer pockets, which while I realize the product is a minimalist design might still have expanded functionality/comfort at a minuscule weight penalty.

Bellow are my ramblings. Just me being longwinded and tangential, mostly, with little substantial content.

Before I got it out of the bag I was feeling a bit panicked because it felt less lofty and lighter than I expected (for those w/ADD I will later discuss how this ended up not being an accurate impression).

After I got it out of the bag, the first thing I noted was the soft hand of the pertex quantum. Feels softer than my Nunatak bag w/microlight and also softer than my Montane Aero pullover. I like it. I guess that could be a sign I need to was the others.

The material is a graphite color (silvery/grey with a hint of a metalic "sheen" to it, not offensively shiny by any means) That should go nicely with my otherwise multicolor assortment of gear (hey, I'm a bargain shopper).

I finally put it on, despite having just gotten out of my jeep (no doors, no top) and the 90 degree heat. Once I got it on I realized it was much loftier than I first realized, and this is completely subjective, but felt as lofty, if not loftier, than my micropuff pullover. The sleeves fit perfect, and the cuff is much nicer than that on the micropuff (stetchier, not so constricting but tight enough to stay in place). I anticipate no issues with adding my smartwool hoody and Montane Aero or Patagucci Hoodini (if I ever suck it up and pay the piper) underneath. In fact, there's probably room for another layer or two in addition if ever needed. At the same time, it fits under my OR Zealot nicely (although the zealot feels like cardboard compared to the cocoon).

As some others have mentioned it could be longer in the back. At the same time, I don't know how I'd feel about sitting on it (once again, subjective only, no idea about the abrasion resistance of the fabric). It by no means felt short, however.

I am 5'8 and 160 pounds. I generally wear mediums and this garment fits ideally. It fits so well that I think if I were any bigger it would be on the small side. If you are a sometimes size small sometimes medium kinda person I'd go w/the medium. If you are medium sometimes large kinda person I'd go with the large. So if you are debating a bigger vs smaller size I'd go for the bigger.

Hood is easily adjusted and fits nicely around the face.

I am considering mutilating it and adding two small blind pouches just big enough to get my gloved (ok, socked) fist into.

I am very excited about using this puppy next fall/winter.

Hi Mark – will you be wearing these together (the medium Vest & Hoody)? If so does the vest fit ok under the hoody without too much compression?

I didn't get the vest for under the Hoody ,although I just tried it on and there was plenty of room- no compression to speak of, a little busy at the bottom hem. I got for the 2 for differing conditions. Vest for summers here in the midwest.
