Nunatak Arc Edge

How about the customizing that Nunatak does, is there any experience with that? Do they charge a lot for it?

I have an arc alpinist not an edge, but my experience w/ Nunatak was awesome. Tom accomodates custom mods readily and for a reasonable charge, although multiple changes can add maybe $80+. You should just call him to get specifics. I don't recall a lot of discussion about the Edge here, but the reviews of his other bags will give you an idea. You might get more feedback if we knew what conditions, and with what other gear, you're considering using the edge.

edit – Personally i'd prefer a wider footbox for comfortable foot splay. probably wider dimensions generally if pushing the temp range. Like an Arc Spec or Ghost with only 1" baffle ht and proportionally less fill.

I had Tom make me an Arc Specialist in a custom 6'length. The price was in between the 5'10" and the 6'4" model which seemed very fair to me. I had it done in the blue Epic and with 1 ounce overfill. I like the little extra width due to being a salmon sometimes when I sleep.

I'm a new owner of an Edge. (Only used it once) The bag is great for exactly why I purchased it; lightest bag for the warmth on short nights of sleep on my back. It's a pretty specialized bag. It is snug and cozy but I'm not sure I'd go as far as comfortable for a nice normal night sleep. Sleeping on your side can be tough in any top bag and this is definitely not an exception.

As for it's usage, I need it for my summer AZ bag, so I too was looking for the lightest bag I can get because of relatively high night temps that I've come across. I'll give them a call today

I don't know too much about the company from an owning any, but I have looked at the site a lot, and I think that perhaps a good compromise would be to sacrifice some lightness for getting the edge a little bit closer to some of the larger girth bags (maybe 2-6 inches of girth, but the guys there would know much better), and that would make it more comfortable for side sleeping in a warmth point of view. I have also heard a lot of people here "training" themselves to sleep on their backs, which the edge would be a lot better as it was what it was designed for, but once again I have little experience with the successful aspect of doing that.

Once I get some money saved-up, I'm going to order a ARC Specialist with 1oz of overfill and sized to 6' as well.

I already have the BMW Cocoon 180, which I like, but I want something that will compress slightly smaller, weigh less and will be slightly warmer as well.
