Looks great on paper.

Sounds like they did their homework on making it handle well on water.

I cant say I like the design of some of the packrafts I'd seen. They usually tend to act like swimming pool floats rather than river boats, which to me makes them problematic in rushing rivers.

Works great on the water also Steven.

Have been using the LWD on mostly slow moving water and some class 1 & 2 water around VA over the past 2 months and have been pretty impressed with this small boat. Tracks pretty well and is a comfortable boat for paddling. Have pulled off 2 overnight trips so far and handles gear load quite well.

I've been torn between the Klymit LWD, the Flytepacker, and the Supai Flatwater2. The Klymit and the Flytepacker are the same weight, but the Klymit is uglier, cheaper, and tracks better. The Supai is the same price as the Flytepacker ($75 more than the Klymit), but a full ten ounces (!) lighter than the other two.

Has anyone fashioned a skirt for any of these (for rain)?

Jim, have you noticed much water ingress over creases in the side tubes in the Klymit LWD when fully loaded? I noticed that in the Prolite Gear video review of the boat.

Hi Colin, Have not had an issue with much water coming into the boat with gear loaded up front which was probably about 10 lbs if that on both trips, but again this was on relatively calm/slower moving water.

Klymit made it in collaboration with Ruta Locura. You should check out Ruta Locura's version on their website. It's $239 and weighs 28 oz for the raft, 3.75 oz for the inflator bag/stuff sack, so a good deal lighter than the Klymit version, but the same exact design.

@ Colin: the Ruta Locura may be perfect for you then, as it's 7 oz lighter than the Klymit and the other one, but cheaper than the 10oz lighter one you mentioned.

You could probably barely inflate it, roll or fold it over a couple times and use it under the legs with a torso pad to save even more weight if not already carrying a torso pad.
