After buying a Frog Toggs rain suit and using it on an AT hike this year, I realized how much I hated it. Every time it rained I wished I had something else. In Damascus I actually sent it home and used a $1 Emergency poncho from the dollar store. While this worked much better than the Frog Toggs, I am looking at purchasing a decent rain jacket.
I have been pretty interested in the Golite Virga, and am wondering if anyone has had any experience with it. Also, every website I go to lists a different weight for the Virga. I imagine GoLite has modified it slightly, giving it different weights. I am looking for the lightest possible Virga. Backcountrygear.com has it listed at 9 ounces but I have heard of ones that were 6 or 7 ounces. Does anyone know where to find these?
Also, besides the Virga, what other light rain jackets do you use that won't break my bank?
