I just made a silnylon footprint for my Big Agnes Fly Creek UL3, and I wanted to share a little tip:
Because many tents have "wider" and "narrower" ends, but the difference is only a few inches (i.e., not IMMEDIATELY visible, esp. after a long day on the trails), I decided to use 2 different colors, one for most of the footprint, and a second color for the narrower end. (Seam sealed, of course)
I followed the basic design of the Big Agnes footprint (which has a seam, anyway); did the main part in navy blue and the narrow end in red. Now when I'm tired and want to set up camp, I know immediately which end is which…
