    Hi all,

Planning a week long trip for early December, leaving from San Diego. Any Californians have input on December hiking conditions / recommendations for places to go? We're willing to drive as far north as San Francisco but imagine it would get pretty cold that far north. We're not skilled or equipped for winter mountaineering so hoping to find something fairly tame.

    Thanks in advance,

    Matthew

Big sur area would probably be nice if a storm isn't going to roll through. Same could be said for Santa Barbara/Ventura area hikes. Maybe a desert locale? Joshua tree, Death Valley, Anza borrego. Not sure how cold it gets in the desert though.

Just north of SF we have Point Reyes…south you have Big Basin, Henry Coe, and Ventana Wilderness.

Expect lows in the 30's at lower elevations and of course lower temps than that at higher elevations….maybe down in the 20's

That might be ideal — we have friends in Santa Barbara who might be able to do a shuttle… thanks for the recommendations. Still open to more!
