The big problem I see with this is price. When compared to the InReach your costs are significantly higher.
An InReach for smartphones is $249, this thing is $399. You do get more custom messages than with InReach's recreational plan, but with InReach you get unlimited predefined messages and location tracking.
It also seems pretty large for what it offers. I like the theory but the execution seems to have missed the mark.
Note: I don't own an InReach, though I'm hoping one day to be able to purchase one down the road. It seems to be the best most reasonable option available at the moment.
