I'm trying to choose between the Exped UL "medium" and "large" air pillows. There is only a 0.3-0.4oz difference between them, so I'd rather pick for comfort. I'd be using one with a regular sized Xtherm, which kind of tapers down at the head, so I'm not sure which would be better…is there anyone currently using this combo who can comment? I'm a side sleeper for what it's worth. I've never used a real pillow, only a stuffsack with clothes, but I've gotten UL enough that my clothes don't make a very good pillow anymore…

Also, have you found you can effectively tie the pillow down to the Xtherm despite the taper (any pillow)?

Thanks!

For the weight difference its negligible. I've used the large size for the past two seasons and love it.

I haven't tried tying it down but I see no issues if decide to try it. Lash it with some 550 cord around the middle to the pad and it should be fine

I use the large in combo with an All-Season. It's just right, and I don't think I'd want the pillow any smaller. I'm also a side sleeper. I put the pillow in a down pillow case from Goosefeet Gear, which is AWESOME. Stick from Stick's Blog added a piece of elastic to the GG pillowcase to keep it attached to his pad. I just put my pack at the head, and it works pretty good to keep the pillow corralled. HTH!

Appreciate the comments…I think I'll order the large. Cheers.
