I had Zimmerbuilt make a custom pack for my Kifaru Bikini frame. I sent the frame to him and he made a custom pack bag using Kifaru hardware and the attaching points are exactly the same as the Kifaru bags. This is the ultimate setup for me. Instead of trying to attach a dry bag with compression straps or some other rigging, the bag is custom made for my frame. It is made of x-pac and dyneema x to my specifications. The main bag is 3000ish ci, with a 10" roll top. My base gear with a BV450 and fly fishing gear was a tight squeeze in my ULA Circuit. I tad uncomfortable with the bear can bulge. My gear easily fits inside with no unsightly bulge. The Kifaru frame is extremely comfortable and I can switch bags depending on the situation.

Chris did a fantastic job on this project and turn around was within a week of him receiving my frame! This is my first experience with x-pac. I really like it. There is a snap closure of the roll top and the light interior makes packing and unpacking a joy. I went with a solid front pocket as I do not like the look of all kinds of crap behind the mesh. We did not go for ultimate low weight but went with factory hardware and attachment points as Kifaru intended.

I'll have a field test next Friday when I head out for some Golden Trout in the Cottonwood lakes area. Here are a few pictures.

That's awesome Mike. I love my Kifaru Bikini frame. How much does the pack weigh and cost if you don't mind sharing. I don't mind strapping on a dry bag , but an actual pack bg would be awesome.

Chris is friendly and responsive on email. Great stuff!

The bag was only $200.00. I had Cuben hip pockets made, a bladder sleeve and he made two custom Dyneema x pockets for the Kifaru Highcamp bag. All that was extra. Send Chris an email and he can set you up. It is much nicer having a dedicated pack bag instead of monkeying around with a dry bag. It weighs 3lb 10oz. Still light.

Edit for pre coffee spelling, content ect.

That looks like a fantastic setup! I like the use of a laminate fabric too.

Which length of stays did you end of going with?

I have been thinking for months about reusing my stratos 32 frame, the only backpack frame that is 100% comfortable with my badly broken spine (i tried exos 58, atmos 50, talon 44,MLD FS exodus,MLD burn, Golite ion, Golite jam, ULA catalyst and none fits like my stratos 32 ). This looks like very tempting.

I went with the 24" stays. Now that I have it I would not turn down the 26" stays.

Ken,
The weight is with the bag, frame, hip belt pockets.

The 24 vs 26 stay discussion is interesting…

Anyway many thanks for sharing your progress on this project. It appears to be exactly what I'm looking for with current light weight backpacking desires / heavier hunting and research load outs.

Cheers!
