Glacier Peak Wilderness: Spider Gap-Buck Creek Pass

Looks like a great trip! I love that place. One of the absolutely premier areas in the Cascades for sure. How were the bugs? Also, looks like there might have been a fishing rod attached to a pack in one of the pics. Any luck?

The bugs were nasty. I'd say about a 7 out of 10. Yeah he brought a rod and gave it a try at lower lyman. He had a little luck, got a few small trout. Other than that, not a ton of options to fish.

I've been up there a couple times in September and it's been perfect. Usually we get that first freeze sometime in early September and that seems to take care of the bugs for good. Last time was around the 10th or so if I remember right and we didn't see a single bug of any sort despite pretty wet bug-friendly conditions.

Hard to go wrong in the Cascades in September and early October. Best 6 weeks of the year if you ask me.

+1 Especially September. Starting in October, the weather can start to get iffy, but if you come prepared for rain, you'll be fine. The only real downside if things get socked in is that you'll miss a lot of those gorgeous views.
