Any idea what happened to the Patagonia Lighweight Capilene Glove Liner?

I have an old pair that I was looking to replace. I made them fingerless and they have been a great all around treking glove. Durable, quick drying, sunprotective, bug protective, etc. I tried on a pair of polypro gloves but they are just too thin and wouldn't offer the SPF that I'm looking for. I've been considering the Outdoor Research Hurricane glove.

Any suggestions on a source or good comparable option?

Not impressed with the design of the sun glove. The fingers are to short and I do not like the palm cutout, to easy to snag or get debris in. I like to have the finger coverage just below the 3rd knuckle.

I've done a pretty exhaustive search on what is available. Finding the right material, fit, and design is difficult. In most respects the capilene seemed to be right on. I've considered smart wool but I'm not sure if they would unravel where I would cut the fingers at.

I appreciate the suggestion though.

I have a pair of rab meco 165 (160?) gloves that I love for warmer weather. They've held up pretty good for a season, including 11 days in Patagonia. I still have them, and they are still going strong.

Jennifer,

I have not seen those until now. I guess google is still not the ultimate search engine.

They look good and are at a decent price. A warm weather glove that can also take the chill off during cooler temps fits the criteria. I might give these a try.

Thank You : )

Sungrubbies. Great for sun protection, great for mosquitoes. Not so good for warmth, although better than nothing as I recently found out. Fingers may be too short for you.

Icebreaker have a liner glove that I think is either 140 or 160 weight. Under $6.00 from Amazon when you 'add on' to an order. They may unravel at one point on each chopped finger, but a prophylactic drop of seam grip would prevent this. Only colour is black.

Don't know for sure, but it's probably a winter item, so it's not available now but should come back on line in the coming months assuming they continue to offer them.

If it helps, I can confirm that the Smartwool gloves WILL unravel where you cut them.
