After a very slow start to summer in Switzerland, we've ended up with great weather for the most part of 4 weeks. I've been able to get in two weekend mountaineering trips and a great overnight backpacking trip with my wife in the canton of Glarus, a small mountainous canton not too far from Zurich. The goal for the trip was just to relax spending time outdoors and to find a camping spot above the tree line with a beautiful view. Fortunately we were able to accomplish both!
On Saturday, we started in the small town of Weisstannen and hiked the 1500 vertical meters up to Foo Pass before dropping down below the pass in search of a spot to relax and pitch the tent for the evening. We were able to find a beautiful spot at the foot of the Foostockli mountain that ended up working perfectly. After a restful night's sleep, we headed down the trail to Elm to wrap up a great weekend hike.
