It will be interesting to hear what is reported about these. They seem to be very single purpose, keeping scree and debris out of the shoes. At about the same price and weight, I, personally, would get a lot more use out of an ID eVent Shortie Gaiter.

The Montbell Stretch Gaitor (1.6 oz. in L) is another gaitor that, strictly speaking, is not waterproof but is highly water resistant (good DWR on Schoeller Dynamic material), stretchy and very tough. I use these up in the PNW when the snow is not so deep. So, it is somewhat like the Simblissity gaitor except it has an instep cord to keep things in place.

No low gaitor, even in eVENT is going to keep your feet and boots absolutely dry
when you are postholing through snow or stepping in water that goes over your gaitor. Keeping debris out, IMHO, is more of a reason for wearing this kind of gaitor then keeping out H20.

Although I have no user experence w/ the Levagaitor, In general I find Simblissity products top notch.

I recently received a pair of levagaitors as a present. I have only been able to get out once with them so far. I think that I am going to like them a lot for three season use. The first time I put them on I was concerned that the grosgrain around the bottom hem of the gaitor was not tight enough to keep the gaitor on my shoe in use. Last week when I got out with the gaitors they stayed in place throughout the hike. I think that anybody with feet smaller than mine (men's size 8) would have trouble using them because the grosgrain would not be streched enough to stay down on their heal.

I am going out for another hike tomorrow and will provide more comments if I notice anything about the gaitors. If anyone has specific questions about the gaitors I will answer if possible.

I am interested in these gaiters for 3 season use, mostly on trail and just to keep debris out of trail shoes. I have thought about the ID event gaiter but it seems a bit overkill for that kind of use, and I am not particularly wild about an understrap if the Simblissity system works well without it.

Stuart, can you describe the material? It sounds like a proprietary gimmick, are they just a heavy spandex?

I can't say I haven't heard of dirty girls, but I guess I haven't. I checked out the website and it looks promising. Do you have any experience with them, the gaiters I mean.

The fabric for the leveagaitors is very similar to the stretchy material the side pockets of my granite gear pack are made of. I believe the fabric granite gear uses is a schoeller fabric not spandura. The fabirc for the gaitors feels like a medium weight spandex but it seems tougher than a similar weight spandex. I am not sure about the water absorbtion/repellancy and drying time of the levagaitors but it is supposed to rain here tommorrow so I may have a chance to try them out in rain.

I love these gaiters. I am a Montrail Vitesse fan so I finding a gaiter that did not require a heel strap was important. For normal hiking conditions I find that they never rise up on me but they reach there limit in snow and heavy deep mud. Luckily they come with eyelets for a heel strap in these situations

I wore my LevaGaiters (1.9 oz) all last season, including mucking about on the Wonderland Trail. They worked great. They do come with eyelets to add a strap if you want, but I haven't needed to do that, since they fit my (various) trail runners so well.
