High Sierra Trail TH->Hamilton Lakes(8200′)->Moraine Lake(9300′)->Colby Lake(10500′)-> vicinity of Elizabeth Pass(11500′)->return to TH or Bearpaw HSC.
I have to leave for this trip 12 days before it starts so no idea of weather, but I know that thunderstorms can pop up any summer afternoon in the Sierras. I’m guessing 60-70F during the day and likely 30-40F at night with the chance of dropping into the high teens.
My options are swapping the Arc Specialist for the BPL Cocoon 240 with a penalty of 10oz but the safety factor or synthetic. Or trading the BPL Cocoon hoody for a Montbell Ul Down Jacket(save .95oz) I have a Backcountry Boiler as well, but my altitudes would require using the firefelt, and I think I’d rather the ease of the Jetboil.
