Anyone care to pimp their shorts?

I like my REI Sahara shorts. Some folks have complained about the zippers, but I have worn my two pairs for the last three years without any mishap whatsoever. In any case, they are backed by REI's fabulous guarantee.

I have three different versions of their shorts and they are ALL really comfy, fit perfect, and are tough.
One pair has a little spandex so it really flexes nice and another is made from Inertia and sheds water and dirt easily and dries really fast.

I really like my duofold shorts. I can't remember the model name but they are made with varitec fabric. They are simple almost like running shorts but bigger. They have a zippered back pocket, two front side pockets, elastic waist and no liner. They are very lightweight. I got them at campmor for cheap, cheap, cheap; like most duofold products.

My advice is to buy a pair of synthetic running or gym shorts. Sure, you won't look like you belong in an REI circular but its been a while since I've run into a catalog photographer on the trail who was short a model or two.

Running shorts, here, too. The briefer the better—just have the legs to get away with it :-)>— and speaking of briefs, a comfortable, integral inner brief (liner) is de rigeur .
It's not uncommon among the SUL set to forego seperate or additional undies and let the running shorts do double duty.

Brands? Too many to really mention but Sugoi and Golite usually have a couple of trailrunning centric models which are equally useful for backpacking.

Ex Officio shorts (not sure of the model). Light, airy, and they dry extremely fast if they get wet.

They're cheap ($17) and wear like iron. Cabela's 7 pocket. Just don't tell anyone on this site that I wear them.

I really, really like my Montane Terra shorts. Huge front pockets, light but with strong Cordura nylon where it matters. Great for rough conditions.
