Seems Gossamer Gear has adopted the latest in business expansion techniques- Outsourcing. Their Website claims that "Our products are made in America"…Really?
I just purchased a Mariposa Pack about 10 days ago and guess what…MADE in MEXICO of US components..The main selling point for me is the fact that it WAS one of the few companies that still offered Made in USA Packs. I have Returned the pack for a refund and will look elsewhere.
I had no idea they were doing that. The made in USA cottage guys are slipping away.
Not taking a side, as I don't particularly mind Mexico. Nice and sunny.
From the GG website "About Us" page:
"All of our products are designed by Gossamer Gear and manufactured in the United States. Our products have been featured in Backpacker Magazine, National Geographic Adventure Magazine, and most recently in the New York Times."
Chris – if you consider it well made, then apart from the commentary on the GG website, you are still supporting a US company.
