Hello folks,

I'm following Beast12101 on youtube. He has really good reviews of different outdoor gear. Recently he posted a review of new product by Xtar: H1 youtube link

This headlamp is now available at going gear for $53 slightly cheaper than zebralight.
H1 looks pretty neat thing. It is built of good strong materials, however is made in china (just like all zebralights). The pros of H1 over Zebralight:
-IPX 8 vs IPX 7 of ZL
-Red LED
-compatible with 14500 batteries (AA sized with more power) (ZL is NOT)

Cons:
– ZL is lighter. The light itself is 53 gram (H1) vs 29 (ZL)
– ZL has more comfortable light holder (see YT vid)

So, first of all, FYI.
Then, would you still buy ZL or try the new light?

For me a price tag o $70 for so simple light like ZL is too expensive…

All the best,

Greg.

how about important features like efficiency, burn time, controls, parasitic drain?

I too like my H51, when I need it.
However it is admittedly overkill for me most of the time.
I dont see water resistance as being a factor, or a red light.

Most of the time, a tiny photon is more than I need.

When want to do some night hiking, the H51 is a hard-to-beat item.

The fenix LD01 falls in between somewhere I think.

at 0.15 oz for a spare set of batteries, I can carry many spare sets of photon batteries for the weight of a larger light.
