Hi all,
I’ve listed my preliminary gear list for a dry camp on Mt Humphreys, AZ below. I’m expecting lows of 40-45 F and highs around 80. Hopefully, it’ll rain (I miss rain here in Phoenix).
Base weight is 4.9 lbs.
I’m varying gear as much as possible in the Sub-5 challenge trips so I can try stuff in the field and make a “favorites” list at the end of the challenge.

Jul 7, 2005 at 2:36 pm #1338759Are the following included as carried on your person items? Do you even plan to bring them on your trek?
[note: some might be considered consummables.]
a small med/first aid/Rx kit (at least for a blister – i know,… light footwear, but still…),
duct tape and/or needles/thread (one slip on some loose gravel, slide a bit, & the G6 might shred)
compass & maps
bug dope/bug headnet (no bugs where you’ll be hiking???)
personal hygiene (incl. dental care – brush & floss – brush at least is non-consummable)
other chems (Purell, Dr. Bronner’s, LipBalm & sunscreen) – sorry, i keep forgetting, are these consummables?
Photon MicroLight (emergency use at least, e.g., you need to evac at night)
signaling mirror/whistle (you don’t have your Mariposa this time!)
water treatment – Aqua Mira (consummable again???)
TP – consummable again, right?
what do you dig a cathole with?Jul 7, 2005 at 9:34 pm #1338772Yes, I’ll be carrying most of those – I just listed “Other” to cover all the small stuff (which is pretty much the same as I listed for my sub-5 canyoneering trip).
