I have just bought a new Garmin etrex and want to use it with Lithium batteries.
In the set up modus you can choose between 3 battery types: Alkaline, NiMh and Lithium Ion.
But what category should I choose for normal Lithium batteries?
Hope this question is not too stupid, but I couldn't find anything about this question in the manual either.
Thanks a lot in advance.

There was a discussion about Lithium Batteries and the Foretrex 101 which can be found here which may be helpful

Hi Christine,

I suggest using the Lithium ion setting, as they should have similar discharge curves to disposable lithiums. Note that this setting only affects the battery meter readout, and not the GPS functions (mainly because NiMH cells output 1.2 volts versus 1.5 for the others).

In the past on my Etrex Legend I had problems when I was switching from lithium to alkaline after my lithiums ran out.

The GPS would not power up on the new alkalines while set for lithium. I had to power up using new lithium batteries and then change the battery setting to alkaline …. power down, and then put the alkalines back in for it to work.
