MSR Carbon Core vs Groundhog Mini Stakes

They work fine and grip in both hard and soft ground. Not cheap though.

Looking back over Will Rietveld's article on stakes, it seems the groundhogs have the best holding power.

Anyone have accurate weights on these to the nearest 1/10th of a gram?

Ray, your review of the Carbon Cores is one of the only ones out there. Tent stakes just don't capture the limelight the way shelters do I guess. Are they still holding up well? I am debating between them and the Minis. Skipping Easton stakes since my experience with them was less than positive.

Yes they are, but now that most of my hiking is in MN where we have pretty good soil it is a lot easier on my stakes than when I was in the Sierra most of the time. I am taking them out right now for a few days.

I did wish they were longer last week. They were pulling out in very saturated ground using the StratoSpire 2 in high wind. (And yes Henry does send nice long stakes with it…)

Saw those on Stick's blog. Way better price than the Carbon Cores. Problem is I have a gift card to backcountry.com so am trying to go with what I can find there.
