I have a pair of Vioz GT boots (size 11) that are great with one caveat — they get hot and I sweat buckets in them, which leads to soggy feet. ..and they're heavy, but I'll take that for comfort. Overall, these boots are quite comfy even in back to back 15 mile days with a 35lb pack.

Before these I had a pair of Asolo GTX Flames (toe box was too small). My running shoes are some Brooks Ravena 3's (11.5), and my daily wear is usually a pair of Vasque Mindbender (10.5).

Those of you that have moved from boots to trail runners, or currently have these boots as backup — any thoughts on what trail runners might work well? I have relatively high arches, over pronate and need a pretty wide toe box to keep my pinky toe from getting shredded.

My local stores have a few of the highly regarded shoes I see mentioned here — but most would have to be ordered.

I just switched from the Vioz GT to a Treksta Evolution II. Since I have very low volume feet I added 1 full length 1/8" microcell foam insole and a 1/2 length of the same foam under a Sole insole and have been very impressed. The sole's of my feet are easily bruised and I have had no problems yet with the Treksta, very solid feeling sole.

Try the La Sportiva Ultra Raptors also. I found them to fit better than the Treksta's. I measure 11.5 and wear 12 in Zamberlan's and went with a 46.5 and added a Superfeet blue insole to take out some volume.

Thanks for the insights. I picked up a pair of La Sportiva Ultra Raptors today in size 45. I managed to get a quick couple mile walk in and they feel like the have high potential. The volume is good, maybe just a hair tight by my pinky toe, I won't really know until my feet swell up on a long hike. Traction/stickiness is unreal. The sole has a nice rigidity to it when flexing, yet is still quite cushioned. These have the most promise so far.
