    For a good starting point, look at Brian Green's "Using A Compass — The Basics" here:

    Then, pick up a compass + book like one of these and practice:

    or

    If you have an REI in your area, they offer basic compass classes. Other outdoor stores might, too.

    This book is by far the best on the market for this subject. It has far more detail than a YouTube video, with chapter tests to help you remember the material. Its great for a teaching situation.

    Tads book recommendation" Wilderness Navigation" is great,I read the book and then took the navigation course at the Mountaineers Club here in Seattle.

    YouTube is good for drunken acts and mindless entertainment.
    If you want to actually learn something, get a book.
