Hi all. I just thought to give some feedback on this pack I used last week. I did a 5 day down river trip. I was boulder hopping, wading and sometimes swimming with the pack on. I used the Exped torrent 30 Liter. I rolled the top tightly 4 times and clipped tightly and securely. The pack leaked ever day. It appeared that the fabric was taking on water and it was penetrating the rubber lining. The pack carried well and looks tough and water proof and well up to the job. The first day I had about 1/4 cup water in the pack after unpacking my stuff at the end of the days hiking. By the 5th day I had about 1 cup water in the pack when I emptied it. I spent a lot of time checking the seams and the whole pack for areas the water could have entered but could not find anything obvious. Each day when I unrolled the closure it was completely dry at the top of the pack. All the water was at the bottom and none of the gear I had packed on top even had a drop of water on it. This is consistent with the water contact on the exterior of the pack as I floated or swam downstream as you can see in the picture below. In the end I concluded that the water was penetrating the material itself. The exterior of the pack would darken after being in the water. I just though I would give some feedback in case someone else was thinking of taking this pack on a similar trip. I would say, don't do it. Getting your gear all wet is inconvenient at best and dangerous potentially. Fortunately I was in a very hot area (90 degrees or so) where even down dries very quickly. One thing I have to say is that exped has excellent communication and customer service. Dave offered to have their team test the pack and either repair or replace the pack if I send it to them even though I bought the pack 2 years ago, although it has had almost no use until last week.expedexped
