I've been stuffing a down vest in my sleeping bag stuff sack, along with an exped pillow. It makes for a very good combination for me. Will this damage the down? No feather leaks so far.

No, short-term compression shouldn't affect the down. Most down bags are shipped from the factory to the wholesaler compressed. Obviously you don't store your bag compressed for months on end, but a few hours, days (even weeks) of compression won't hurt down.
