Most of you probably read Ryan Jordan’s piece on “Considering Minimalist Footwear for Backpacking” — As a big fan of minimalist footwear, it was one of my favorite recent articles, and one I learned a lot from.

The outcome of the article was that the Altra Lone Peak is better optimized than any other minimalist shoe on the market for the needs of ultralight backpackers. Personally, I’m still wearing my Vivo Barefoot shoes because they’ve worked well for me, but one of these days I look forward to trying the Lone Peaks.

Anyway, if you’re looking for Altra Lone Peaks, other Altra shoes, or any of the Vivo Barefoot line, TheClymb has a sale up for the next three days.

I’m sure most members here are already members of The Clymb, but, if not, it’s one of the many “members-only, referral-based” sites on the Web. It’s free to join, and they give me account credit if you sign up through my invite and end up making a purchase. I’m not doing this to try to solicit new members — I only post when I see what looks like a good deal that meets the ultralight philosophy that’s the spirit of this site. That said, if you do decide to use my invite, I appreciate it — the occasional referral helps keep my wife in support of my ultralight hobby! :)

If you’ve got any questions about minimalist footwear on the trail — anything not covered by Ryan’s article — I’m happy to try to answer questions. While I haven’t tried the Lone Peaks yet, I’ve tried several of the other leading minimalist footwear lines and be happy to share my experiences.
