I was interested in ordering a Stealth. I emailed them from two different email addresses a few days ago. No response.
Does anyone know anything about this company?

I don't know much about them, but I have order from them a couple times in the last year and been satisfied with the service and products.
I have only seen their tarps and the quality is outstanding.
I believe that John West owns Borah gear. I have several items all outstanding.
You could PM him.
Or he may follow up on this thread.Or he might be out "testing" new gear ideas! ;)
Type in John West in search box and you will see lots of info.
I think they are very small. They had a display at the GGG.
It's possible the entire company is out on a hike.
Hi Nate,
I sent them an email a month back with some questions about their bug bivy. It took them a couple weeks to respond because they were out backpacking. Give them some time and they will respond.
"I believe that John West owns Borah gear. I have several items all outstanding."
Kevin,
Borah Gear lists the following for wait times:
"The current shipping time on all bivys and tarps is about 2 weeks. Packs are around 3 weeks. Stuff sacks ship within 1-4 days of order date. All items are custom made at the time of order."
How recent were your orders? Just trying to figure out if I do end up ordering a bug bivy if I'll need to give them much more time that what they have listed.
I had quick responses from John this winter before bp and busy season started.

Ian,
Not sure but I may have led some to believe the items were outstanding as in not delivered yet.
I have actually received the items I ordered. And worknanship was -Outstanding.
The Side Zip Bivy had a "2 week" wait I got it in about 8-10 days.
I do have a Stealth on order, ordered last week.
Ha ha! Roger that! Good to hear as I'm looking at buying a couple pieces of gear from him.
I ordered a bug bivy in a custom size from them not long ago and the entire transaction went smoothly and quickly. The bivy is nicely made. Now, if only I could manage to get out there and try it somewhere besides the front lawn!
I have a Borah bivy which I would surely buy again. Great product at a great price, and I was provided with great customer service.
I got a Stealth with some modifications in February. Communication was fast and the pack turned out great. I've been very happy with it. If I end up getting a bivy it will be one from Borah Gear. Like someone said before, the whole staff could be out hiking!

I recently bought the Side Zip Bivy about a month ago.
In my experience, from ordering the bivy to when it arrived at my mail box, it took exactly two weeks. I believe that the estimated wait times are realistic and you could always add the extra priority shipping to speed it up by a few days.
Prior to ordering my bivy I e-mailed John about some questions I had about the bivy and received a prompt response the following day. It seems to be a small business, so he may just be out on a trip.
By the way, the worksmanship on the bivy is fantastic.
Hi everyone, thank you for the kind words! It is true that we are very small, and if I don't reply to you within a day, it means we are out hiking somewhere :)
2013's been a good year for us so far, with the total sales already outdoing 2012. So while the lead times are very close to being accurate, they can vary within 3-4 days of the stated times.
One thing to note is the Stealth is currently out of stock for the time being. We had a dedicated seamstress for the packs, but her husband just got a job out of state, and they had to get up and move pretty quickly so it didn't leave us with much warning. So we are in the process of getting a new one trained as quickly as possible, and will update when they are back and ready to go. There were 5 outstanding Stealth orders at that time, so unfortunately we had to refund those customers. When they're back those people will receive 40% off the packs if they still choose to get one (Kevin, I noticed you were one of these customers). There is a smaller 35L pack being tested at the moment, so look for that to arrive in the next couple months as well.
Everything else is good to go though, and once again thanks to the BPL community. Without you, not sure we would have ever been successful starting.
Great customer service and honesty about the status of the production staff!
these are the types of qualities many people look for (including myself) when spending hard earned cash.
Honesty IS the best way to serve the customer. Thanks John for putting it out plainly and giving an update to the 5 of us who have Stealths orderded.
You still have my business.
