I have been using MSR and Snowpeak stoves for a long time. I have just recently discoved solid fuel/alcohol stoves. They seem to be the lightest way to go. I am looking for any tips and/or guidance on use and a good one to buy.

A versitile stove setup requires a pot support, stove burner, and wind screen. You don't have to 'buy' any of these components for alcohol/esbit cooking, you can make them today from gutter screen, pop cans, and aluminum flashing.

Don't buy… build. I posted this on another thread but here is my cookset… 1.5 oz. These stoves are very easy to build… I build them with my Scout troop as a project about once or twice a year. If a bunch of young punks like my guys can cut up pop cans then so can you! :)

Very cool project, David. Thanks for posting that. I have never seen your web page before so this was a real treat.
