I'm very fond of my Soehnle 65055 for the crucial task of actually weighing gear. Made for kitchen use, it weighs to the nearest gram, or .05 ounce, up to 10 pounds. It tares easily, switches quickly from ounces to grams, is light and easy to store. I'm not sure how absolutely accurate it is near the upper end of the range, but at least it's self-consistent–if one thing weighs 44 grams, and another weighs 254 grams, together they're 298 (or 297 or 299).
There's a wide range of prices on the internet–I think list is $89.00–but a google search turned up one at Mercantila for $26.99.
