I've decided to bite the bullet and spend 70 bucks on a quality hat, but I want to make sure I grab the right one. I've heard good things about the hemp models, but have no experience with it as an outdoor fabric. Does the wider brimmed T4 get floppy in the rain? Which model do folks here prefer?

I prefer the one with the ventilated crown. But it doesn't rain much here. You can beat that price pretty easily on EBay.

I love my LT5. I don't have any experience with any other models. It definitely holds up well in rainy conditions. The LT5 does not provide a lot of ventilation so it may be too warm to wear when hiking in hot summer conditions.
I too found mine on ebay for a bit of a discount. Just make sure you try them on in a store first so that you can determine what size you need.

I think the Tilley LT5 is the best mix. I lost my LT5 and got a T5 to replace it and I'm happy with it, but I would still go with the synthetic version if given the opportunity. I'm sure the hemp model will live up to Tilley's reputation too. The synthetic is lighter and dries faster.
