What is the camouflage duct tape for? It looks heavy.

But Bob, if you can't see the duct tape amongst the foliage, it probably isn't there at all, so therefore it weighs nothing. Ya think?

Put some digital camo on there and you will have a TSUL (Tactical Super UltraLight) Cook kit.

Bob, the duct tape is to hold the cozy together. I'll use ripstop nylon sail repair tape on the next one and see how much weight it saves. -David

Nice. I love the weight and simplicity of an esbit system. I went from esbit to alcohol and back to esbit again. Nothing more satisfying then building your own kit. Have you seen some of the tutorials for putting ridges in the can for added strength?

Gerald, the ridges are a great idea. I have seen a YouTube video where a guy uses a plastic ball peen hammer to make ridges, but that's it. If there are more I'd love to see them. I'm in the process of fabricating a "can ridger" but would like to see the tutorials before I go any further. Can you provide link(s) or Google search terms? I would greatly appreciate it. -David

Shaved off about 6 grams by going to Ti stakes, Esbit burner, and pot lid, and using nylon sail repair tape instead of duct tape for the cozy.
