I'm currently in a field stripped 50L GoLite Jam pack that weighs ~26 oz. My 3-season, western mountain, thru-hiking base pack weight is typically ~9 lbs, and I like to have the capacity to carry 5-6 days food + water. I'm not a Super UL hiker. I want the pack to be able to handle a Berikade Weekender when needed in the Sierras for JMT and PCT thrus. The pack should be able to carry a max load of ~20 lbs.

So folks, what UL backpacks do you recommend that could get my backpack down to the 14-18 oz range?

Thanks!

Scott,

Check out the MLD Exodus, which is at 17 oz.

I am considering the Full Suspension version, which has a removable frame and pad for heavier loads.

With the frame and pad it is 22 oz.

17 oz without.

My friend, Jeremy, and I did the JMT in 2011 and he had the regular Exodus, which was fine until our last resupply push us to around 30 lbs.

Anyway, this is the pack that I plan on getting to replace my Jam2.

Tony
