Vivobarefoot Neo Trail sizing.

Funny. I am a US men's 9.5 and I wear the EU43 in the Neo. Fits me perfectly, with just enough wiggle room. I have both the Neo Trails and two pairs of the Breathos. I would strongly recommend the Breathos. I love the Neos. They are my go to shoe for walking around in. Super comfortable. But they soak up water like a sponge.

The Breathos drain far better and are lighter. I'm assuming your feet and legs are conditioned for minimalist shoes. If so these are great. I trail run and hike in them. I also have the Inov-8 Trail Roc 150s, which I thought could be a replacement, but are just not as comfortable for me to hike distances in, although I do trail run in them. I can think of no backpacking situation where I would prefer the Neos over the Breathos, be it hot, cold, dry or wet. If there is serious cold and snow, then I would go with something like the new Synch hiker to keep snow from getting up under your gaiters, but I have not tired them yet myself. Next winter.

I have an old pair of aquas that I have been using a for a while. They are size 43 and fit great but they are an old model and sizes can change with new models. The traction on them is pretty much worn out on the forefoot and I am retiring them as street shoes. I've been doing the minimalist shoes thing for a while and I love it. I'm never going back.

I agree that the breathos would be better in most situations but I do a bit of off trail travel where I am shoving through bushes and scraping up against sharp sticks. I have used mesh shoes and they get really torn up badly. I'm on a budget and want them to last.
Also, during the summer around here the grasslands create all kinds of prickly stickers that are a huge pain if they get in your shoes. Some of them will poke right through the mesh and get into your shoes. During the hunting season in late summer we walk through a lot of thick weedy grasslands where need something like leather.
So I will have to deal with the slow dry times and hotter feet.

But in the future I will most likely get a pair of breathos as well to use for on-trail or above the treeline trips when the uppers won't be taking so much abuse.

Mostly I am going to be happy to use something with aggressive traction after dealing with crappy traction on shoes for so long.

I am a men's 11 and have 3 pairs of Vivo's, including the NeoTrail. I went with a size up, 45cm, and they fit great. I think it is best to size them up a bit.

I recently purchased my second set of Breathos. Love'em! With my first set, I couldn't decide, like you, with a 9.5 foot……so I purchased both the 42 and 43, from Zappos where shipping is free both ways. Even though I was concerned the 42s were going to be too short (only because I have an unusually long second toe on my left foot), I sent the 43's back.

My suggestion is to order both sizes and go from there. Shoe and shoe size is very personal for many.

Now, if only Vivo would make their soles more durable……..

They are ordered and I will find out soon. I am more at the upper end of 9.5/10 so most likely they will fit great.

I got them in the mail today. Fit is perfect. The stole is really stiff but hopefully it will break in.

I hiked a few miles in them today. So far I am loving them. I have less ground feel with the lugs which kinda bums me out but I also have a little more cushioning for rocky terrain.
After using my aquas with horrible traction I feel like spiderman with these shoes. It's amazing how I can walk on steep hard pack dirt and not slide.
Today I followed a steep game trail that had a treacherous mix of hard pack, eroded, and loose dirt. I almost hurt myself bad on that trail last week when I slipped on a very eroded area and couldn't stop myself. So much better with the neo trails. So yeah, these shoes have some awesome traction.

Glad you like them. If you are really looking to maximize your proprioception through your feed, and you haven't already done this, then remove the insoles.

In case this is helpful to anyone else thing about buying some vivobarefoot shoes, there is this interesting website called shoefitr . I think the shoes which are included in this thing have been scanned in 3D so you can directly compare two shoes with one another. Vivobarefoot are one of the brands which have signed up to it.

Basically, to use it just go to the vivobarefoot website, find the shoe you are interested in, and click on the ‘how will it fit?’ link. Enter your current shoe and you will be able to see a 3d map of your current shoe compared with the ones you are looking at buying.
