I've heard talk of people taking scissors to their NeoAir or other air pad, but is there evidence that it works? I'm tempted to buy a wide pad and cut it short to fit my 5'7" stature. But spending $180 on a pad and then cutting it up gives one pause…
It would be nice to see each manufacturer offer some short and wider options. The whole reason I haven't gotten a Neo-Air is because it's too narrow. The wider version is too long. Just doesn't feel right dropping a bunch of cash on something just to cut it up, possibly screw it up, and void any warranty you have on it. Is there some reason why a 25" x 72" or 25" x 42" stock Neo-Air or Big Agnes can't be available? I have a static V that's just about the perfect size (23×72). Wish it was a tad lighter and had more R value, but it's worked out pretty good.
I was going to cut down an early model Neoair when it developed a big bulge, but the manufacturer said they would cover it under warranty and replace it with the new at the time xLite model. This was outside of the 1 year warranty period.
So I have a new one. Given the great warranty that they will honor even after the year is up, I am not inclined to void it by cutting it down. If you really want to it is doable, but I personally prefer not to void the warranty on an item that expensive.
