Did I imagine this or was there a forum on “health” here at one time?

Was really jazzed about the upcoming season…taking great pains to lighten my load by revamping, making, and modifying my gear. Then, boom! The dreaded knee problem. Was hoping to get the opinion of an orthopod or physical therapist but don't know where to post. Anyone?

Have you thought about seeing a physician, or maybe a sports medicine specialist?

PM PT Jen Mitol, she's happy to give you some intelligent food for thought, recommendations, etc. And she's got a gorgeous pup, so that makes her ultra cool.

There was a "Health" forum until Doug shut down the system with all his "Hiking with the Clap" posts. The best thread was titled "Itching to Hike."

Shameful, really.

Not all of our knee problems can be similar so what works for me may not for you but I have a left knee joint which acts up on the trail sometimes especially on downhills and if I am rushing. I try to walk more gently and straighten my posture as I hike and this instantly removes the knee strain. Straight back, relaxed, good posture and not slamming my feet into the ground by being too over zealous. Another thing is making sure the pelvis is straight. I have a stretch I do which will self adjust the pelvis in case there is any torque. This problem may be specific to me because I was in a car wreck and crushed the cartilage around my sacrum so my pelvis tends to slip in and out of place. But if it isn't kept straight it tends to twist my knee and lead to problems. You can also take anti inflammation tablets which will reduce joint swelling such as health force nutritionals acai resveratrol. That is what I take daily when I hike.
