I am getting ready for my long distance walk later this month in Northumbria.
I can take my 10 oz ArcTeryx PacLite shell or a somewhat older and heavier GoreTex ACR shell. Although the long range weather forecast is looking more like "cloudy bright" than sustained rain, the one thing I remember about my two years in East Anglia is that UK weather always changes.
I have never had to use the PacLite shell in long rains and the manufacturer describes it as emergency rain protection. I would expect GoreTex shell might hold up better in long rains?
