Assuming the Surefire in aluminum is about $90, that's about $420 worth of titanium. I have a 2 oz titanium cup that cost $30, so unless this flashlight also boils water or lasts 160 hours, Surefire should check for another supplier of titanium.

Their single CR123 E1L puts out less than half the output–makes me wonder what sort of LED and circuitry are providing the magic. Hopefully this wizardry will trickle down to flashlights mere mortals could afford. Switching to aluminum would help trim the cost, as would a plastic window, but probably not enough.
And yes, I can easily imagine losing it.

I think this is a great demonstration of where practical portable LED lighting is headed. But, like computers were 10 years ago, by the time you get it home it's outdated.
Nice light. The gee whiz factor is high.
The price is a little salty.
