one problem I’d have is I’d lose it. Just leave it on the ground measuring temperature and forget to pick it up. Maybe the smartphone could beep at you when it loses bluetooth connection : )

Last summer I bought three SensorPush devices for use around the house. When backpacking time arrived it seemed that a test was appropriate. It worked fine for my demands, mostly interested in overnight low temperatures inside the tent; humidity readings are of little interest to me. It has become my thermometer of choice for overnight trips.
Pros:
small, lightweight (less than 0.8 oz. on my scale)
records 20 days of data, more when paired with a phone, tablet, etc.
battery life of 1+ year
no on/off switch, it is always on, no need to remember to flip a switch to record overnight lows
seems rugged, durable IMO
Cons:
at $50 relatively expensive
there is no display or readout or instant gratification unless it is paired with a phone
water resistant, not water proof, would need overhead protection if left outside
