Patching tear in BA FC UL2 Rain FLy

The fly is silnylon, so you'll want a strip of tenacious tape about an inch wide (or wider, enough to cover the rip with .5"+ on either side of the hole) and 2" longer than the tear and round the corners. Stick this on the tear on the PU coated INSIDE/UNDERSIDE. You can brush some regular McNett Seamgrip (or whatever came with your sleeping pad, etc) around the edges of the patch and let that dry if you want a stronger hold.

Then when that is all dry, use McNett Silnet on the tear on the exterior/outside.

That should give you a nice, permanent fix.

Send it back to BA and they'll probably fix it for free, they have great customer service.

I have a few friends who have done this over the years, and each one said the same thing, great customer service, one friend didn't even buy his from BA, give it a shot what do you have to loose.

If you don't need the fly fixed right away, you should totally send it to them. I had a BA insulated air core that wasn't holding air, and i tried to fix it myself but found out there were many microscopic holes and so i sent it in for warranty. They were really quick with the turn around. After they received it from UPS, it took only 4 days for me to get a BRAND NEW pad, they decided to replace it free of charge.

I emailed BA and its gonna cost $20 for the repair plus shipping costs.

It'll be cheaper to do it yourself, and it'll be just as effective. And since you'll be taping it on the underside, the patch won't be too noticeable.

Yip going to REI after work today evening to get Seamgrip and Tenacious tape.

Remember to use Silnet for the outside, as it's silnylon and regular seamgrip won't hold well. For the inside, seamgrip is optional since you're already going to tape it and seal the outside with silnet.
