I was thinking of this while driving around running errands today: We all love to look at the coolest new pack or tarp, but what about those less glamorous little items that keep finding their way in to our packs? Those little things that get taken on about every trip, that seem just, "Right?" I'll go first:
Rocky Gore-Tex socks. These things find their way in to my pack just about every trip, from day hikes to backpacks, to bike trips. My primary shoes are Salomon XA pros, so I wear them anytime the ground is wet or I'm facing a stream a crossing. I've worn them in the snow, in the heat of an East Tennessee summer, and everything in between. They add a surpising amount of warmth and are tough. They are great for cool morning cycling as well.
What are yours unsung heroes?
