forgot, fixed a small tear with a patch and silicone dissolved in methylated spirits. Came off after a few years. Guess stitching it and seal with plenty of silicone is the better way. Was in the inner tent, so was not really tragic.

For the bent poles: well, that makes spare parts really expensive.

You are meant to use Mineral Turpentine (mineral spirit/paint thinner)to dilute, not metho …

For patches just smear a thin layer of undiluted silicone (100% silicone like GEII or SilNet not the bathroom stuff..) onto each surface then let it stand for 15-20 minutes.
Then press the two together and if possible put a weight on it .
Leave for 48 hours before you have a look.

and maybe turps, think methol does not really dissolve it. Its a few years ago, cannot remember.
Then again, would new silicone stick to 8 year old? Not sure.

If the surface is clean , i don't see why not…
(water with some PURE soap (no , not detergent, soap , the stuff you use for wool) will do the trick)
A few months ago I was bored so I completely coated my 2005 Rainbow, just for fun. It did stick to it.

Don't think you would have to recoat a silnylon tent. If the silicon is mechanically rubbed off, your fabric is dead, too? My olden one never had a leak on the skin, just in the base. And the base is not silnylon.
