I picked up one of these a few months ago from the Deals section of their website and finally got around to trying it out this past weekend. What an awesome pack! It's light, comfortable, and very functional. And I love the mesh pocket! I can't believe I've gone so long without having one on a pack.

The one I bought was in the Deals section because it was marked as a prototype build and had measurements and notes written in permanent marker all over it. The markings didn't bother me too much, but I read about dyeing backpacks in the following thread and decided to give it a shot.

I forgot to take any "before" shots, but here are a few of the finished product. I think it came out pretty well.

Hey, that does look great! And I'm also a big fan of that pack, been using one for a number of months now.

These packs are just awesome!

I use my Minimalist for all of my spring/summer/fall day hikes. I even use it for trail runs – the lower chest strap really keeps it in place when moving fast. I picked up a second one a while back that I keep stashed in my suitcase. I travel a lot for work, and it's nice to have a decent pack with me if there are trails near my destination. I have a number of other packs, but the Minimalist definitely sees the most use.
