I have a tent but there are some times when I will hike to a lean-to with a friend(s). What netting arrangement do you folks use to keep the mosquitoes off your face when sleeping?

Is there a simple "arch" system, such as a one-pole set up, that can sit over your head that will accommodate netting?

I use an OR bug bivy. You can also use a but net over a ball cap (to keep it off your face).

I have spent enough nights in a mesh bug bivy to see how relentless mosquitos can be. If you have flesh that rubs against the netting, they will swarm to it.

Unless you attach a tie out point to the end of the adventure 16 net, it's not very practical at least where i live. If you live or hike at some place where even much of the spring and fall is hot and muggy, you definitely don't want to be laying in your sleeping bag or under a quilt most of the time. So, you would have to pull the netting off you so you don't get bit on your lower half. Having your pack at the end of your foot area might help a bit though too.

I used an A16 bug bivy for a couple of years. Wonderful when cowboy camping with flying bugs r under a tarp, would have been great if I ever stayed in a shelter. There was a downside mentioned above… the netting only goes about 1/2 the way down the body… so you really need to use it with your sleeping bag / quilt which makes it not so great in hot weather. Wanting bug free stay with ventilation and room to move when it was hot is what led me away from tarps to ultralight shelters like the hexamid.
